Bee-utiful Bounty:
Bee-utiful Bounty celebrates the blackberry. In this class, we’ll create a not quite miniature book with plump, juicy blackberries and dancing bees that skirt the velvet fruit of summer’s promise. We’ll use contemporary Stumpwork techniques to pad the blackberries and bees to create a beautiful dimensional effect. Then, we’ll create a text block using the web link stitch and sew endbands on the top and bottom of the text block before finishing our embroidered bookcloth into a case bound book.

Field Thistle:
Thistle flowers represent strength, courage, and protection. The sharp and prickly foliage reflects its resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Native thistles such as the Field Thistle play an important role in our ecosystems. The seeds of native thistles help sustain songbirds, who line their nests with the fluffy material of the fruits and feed the seeds to their young. The nectar and pollen feed bees and bumble bees. They also help to fuel the Monarch Butterfly migration because they bloom in late-summer and fall, when other native species may not be in flower.
